This work was commissioned by the Selkórinn choir and its conductor at the time, Jón Karl Einarsson, in celebration of the choir's 40th anniversary in 2008. It consists of three pieces (for SATB). The first is based on Icelandic folk melodies, while the other two are arrangements of Icelandic folk songs.
Selkórinn, under the direction of Jón Karl Einarsson, premiered the work, recorded it, and released it on a CD titled Himinn Jörð (Heaven Earth). In 2025, I revised the work, particularly the final movement, Dalvísa.
The three poems by Jónas Hallgrímsson are:
Strandsetan (On the Beach)
Líkur sínum (Like His Own)
Dalvísa (Valley Verse)
