The Austrian born musician conductor, composer and musicologist Victor Urbancic spent the years from 1938 until his death in Iceland, where he took an active part in the establishment of modern musical culture. His interest in Icelandic folk music resulted in a collection of more than 50 folksongs most of which he arranged for choir. His wife, the Austrian linguist Dr. Melitta Urbancic translated all the texts to German and English.
