Tómas R. Einarsson was born March 25th, 1953, in Blönduós, Iceland. His first composition appeared on record in 1982 and he wrote most of the compositions on the LP “Dessi ófétis jazz” (1985), and has since been active as a composer as well as a bassist. Besides his 13 records as a leader or co-leader, Einarsson has written music for six TV films. He is a member of the Reykjavik Jazz Quartet, and recorded his 10th album as a leader in 2002, the CD “Kúbanska”. It was the first Latin jazz CD recorded in Iceland and it was nominated in two categories for the Icelandic Music Awards. Einarsson also went to Havana in 2003 and recorded with Cuban musicians. The CD “Havana,” enjoyed great success and won two prizes at the Icelandic Music Awards. Einarsson´s third Latin jazz album, “Romm Tomm Tomm,” was recorded in spring 2006, in Reykjavik and in Havana´s EGREM studios, with 14 musicians.
