Hilmar Thórdarson is born in Akureyri, Iceland in 1960. After graduating

from Reykjavik College of Music in 1985 he went to the United States for

further education at California Institute of the Arts and Yale University.

Between 1992 and 1995 Hilmar worked as a composer in residence at the CCRMA

and CNMAT computer music studios at Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley.

His compositions have been performed worldwide and released on several CDs.
