Hallvarður Ásgeirsson was born in Reykjavík 1976. He studied guitar playing in the jazz and rock department of F.Í.H. Music School and completed 6th grade. He studied at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and graduated in 2006 with a degree in composition, with further studies in music pedagogy in 2007. Among his teachers at the Academy were Hilmar Þórðarson, Ríkharður Friðriksson and Úlfar Haraldsson. Hallvarður furthered his studies at Brooklyn College, with Douglas Cohen, Tania León and Jason Eckhart. He graduated from Brooklyn College in 2009 with a M.mus degree. Hallvarður has taught music at Reykjanes Music School and currently teaches at Hafnafjörður Music School and Toney.
Hallvarður has collaborated with many artists, performing and recording music of a wide spectrum. He was a member of the band Stórsveit Nix Noltes and toured with the band in Europe and the U.S.A. Hallvarður recorded his own compositions under the title Lífsblómið with Paradigms Records in 2006 and his work Cityscape was published by the International Electro Acoustic Festival at Brooklyn College.
