This work was composed in 2008 at the request of Ólöf Sesselja Óskarsdóttir and Árni Árnason for their daughters, Hrafnhildur (Soprano), Arngunnur (Clarinet) and Valgerður (Piano) who premiered the work on February 14th 2009 in Reykjavík. The 1st movement is a School Prayer (for a new school in a new place), the 2nd movement is about a man called Torfi who is urged not to speak ill of the fox even though it had killed one of his sheep. The 3rd movement urges moderation when drinking ale and the 4th movement is a Lullaby. The first three movements are based on Icelandic folk songs but the last movement is a variation on a song by Jón Laxdal (1865-1928).
