Commissioned by the official celebration committee, this work was premiered on June 17 1994 at Thingvellir on the occasion of the official celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Icelandic Republic, performed by the choir of the Icelandic Opera, conducted by Garðar Cortes.

Lagið var frumflutt á lýðveldishátíð á Þingvöllum 17. júní 1994 í tilefni af fimmtíu ára afmæli íslenska lýðveldisins.
Kór Íslensku óperunnar flutti undir stjórn Garðars Cortes.
