Arnar Bjarnason graduated in Theory and Composition from the Icelandic Conservatory of Music in 1997. He then studied for one year with composer Atli Ingolfsson in Bologna Italy. In the fall 1998 he enrolled in a PhD program in Theory and Composition at Brandeis University in Boston, USA. He is currently working on his doctorate projects; a thesis on the opera Il Prigionero by Luigi Dallapiccola and a composition.
